Mountain Vista Hotel

We spent four nights there in peak season. The rooms were great, and the value was pretty decent. It’s roughly a 30-minute drive to the Park and 10 minutes to West Yellowstone. Breakfast could use a bit more variety, and they only clean the room and replace towels if you ask at the front desk.

The front desk women were friendly and helpful when we had questions, and the small breakfast room was okay, though the options were limited. The room itself was a letdown: dusty, quite small, with a dirty window and greasy fingerprints on the bedside table. The online photos gave a misleading impression. We asked for a ground floor room because we’re older and I’d recently had hip surgery, but they couldn’t arrange one. After dinner, once we’d climbed the stairs thinking we were done for the day, we discovered our key had been deactivated. They’d charged us for just one of the two nights, but why deactivate the key instead of charging our card again?

Breakfast turned out to have a nice range of choices, which was a pleasant surprise. The room at Mount Vista Hotel was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. The bathroom was small, but it worked fine with the layout. A solid place for a short visit.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and had nice amenities. We were there in the off season and reached the park in under 30 minutes. It’s also not far from the entrance, with lovely views around the clean, pleasant property.
