Holiday Inn Express & Suites N Waco Area - West by IHG

We didn’t get our second room until 9 pm, and I have no idea why it took so long since they weren’t cleaning it. By then, I’d already spent the afternoon stuck in the lobby. We were with a wedding party that had a room block, but nobody could check in before exactly 3, even though rooms were ready. With two wedding parties waiting and the wedding at 4:30, the line was so long that we arrived late. My room smelled so bad I couldn’t sleep. The towels were covered in brown stains and mascara, so I couldn’t use them. Since it was late, I tried to ignore the smell and go to bed. As soon as the sun came up, I left. I’ll never come back. Waco has cheaper hotels that are much nicer and better located.

There were only three guests around, so it wasn’t busy, but breakfast was pretty grim when we showed up at 8. Two sad egg fold things and two sausage patties looked like they’d been made in China, judging by how old and poor quality they seemed. There was also just a spoonful of dry potatoes, no yogurt, and the pancake machine was broken. The room thermostat didn’t work either, so we couldn’t use the AC. Management or the owner has brought this place down to a two-star hotel. I wouldn’t come back, since there are plenty of other options nearby with a better chance of decent quality and service. The rooms had wet bathmats even though they were supposed to be clean, and the beds were stained with pee. The hallways smelled like sewer, and the check-in process was bad too. Staff at the desk were rude and talked down to us. Management was impossible to reach or just wasn’t on the property, and the front desk would make up times for calling back just to get us off the phone. Honestly, their slogan might as well be “the customer is ALWAYS WRONG.” There were even boogers on the wall. This place is awful, and your $100 is better spent elsewhere. I strongly recommend staying away.

The staff were polite and helpful, and they went out of their way to help me a couple of times. The place itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable, so I had a pleasant stay. I’d highly recommend this hotel if you need somewhere in the area. Five out of five for me :)
