Ocean View Westerly

There was a “beach parking” sign in front of the lot, so we pulled in to grab ice cream next door after our beach day. The lot was almost empty, but an older man, presumably the owner or front desk worker, came out yelling at us. We explained we’d be back in five minutes. He said, and I quote, “if I rent out that room I’m going to have a hard time explaining to them why they don’t have a parking spot.” We just laughed and went down the street to another ice cream shop. If he’d politely asked us to move to another spot, we wouldn’t have minded, but he was aggressive. I still don’t understand why there’s a beach parking sign if they won’t let people park there to get ice cream. For a hospitality business, the customer service is lacking. I wouldn’t stay there even if it were free, especially since the place looked poorly maintained. I’ve attached video showing the empty lot and the beach parking sign.

After dinner, my family came back and walked on the beach. We went to wash the sand off our feet using the hotel’s facilities, and a staff member asked, “excuse me are you staying here or taking advantage of other people’s property”. I told him we were staying there, in Room 3, and he rudely walked away. We only wanted to clean our feet so the rooms would stay cleaner, and that’s how we were treated. I wish we’d picked another hotel or motel. So incredibly rude.

The rooms were comfortable enough, and smoking outside seemed okay since I didn’t get many glares. There are permanent residents, though, and some of them will stare. The owner or loiterer was obnoxious and yelled at me when I pulled up, even though I told him my party was already there. I’ve renamed the place Ocean Poop. The bathrooms were the worst part, with stains on the shower curtains. The people who live there aren’t too friendly, and even the woman who runs or owns the Hot Dog cart was a lot. Sometimes it feels like the Twilight Zone. Just do your own thing. It’s the kind of place where you might want to leave behind a sheet or towel to help out. I’d stay again, but I’d take the whole place very lightly.

The room had a musty smell, the TV connection was awful, and the sheets were sandy before we’d even used them. Staff wouldn’t wash them, which makes no sense to me. Why pay $275 a night for a room that won’t even accommodate guests a little? I won’t stay here again.
