Service was good, but I was disappointed by the lobby lounge and bar’s feel. The outdoor property is beautiful, yet the inside could use some interior decorating improvement to make the smaller area cozy and charming. The furniture felt mismatched, with an office-like love seat alongside charming chairs in different sizes, and the room was too bright for the romantic Friday date-night mood we wanted. The bar setup also didn’t feel up to Ocean House’s quality. My husband and I usually go to Ocean House for date night, so we tried their sister property Weekapaug Inn for a change. I haven’t seen the rooms, so this is only about the bar and lobby lounge.

The place felt peaceful and elegant right from the moment we arrived. Fires in the fireplaces and puzzles on the tables gave it a simpler-time kind of calm. No flashing lights or digital screens, just quiet and thoughtful design. We loved the Weekapaug Inn, and it’s our new place. We plan to come back next year.

From the bar to the valet, the evening felt awkward and disorganized, nowhere near the five-star standard we expected. We got there around 5:15 for a 5:30 dinner booking and were told we couldn’t be seated early because the kitchen wasn’t open. That made sense, but we were surprised we couldn’t even sit down for drinks. We waited and ordered at the bar, where there was no music or atmosphere; staff said the speakers weren’t working. A live musician arrived at 6, but we still couldn’t hear anything from our table. Our server was polite, but seemed untrained: he didn’t know the menu or ingredients and couldn’t suggest wine pairings. There was also a noticeable language barrier, and he brought the wrong wine before another staff member stepped in. For a restaurant at this level, service should be seamless and knowledgeable, even if it was his first day. Valet was chaotic too. We waited more than 15 minutes with no valet in sight, then my husband found our keys himself at the valet stand and retrieved our truck. We’d been looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately won’t be back.

The atmosphere was lovely, and our Christmas Eve dinner was simply amazing. The prix fixe menu had superb choices. We’ll definitely return for other events. A hidden RI gem!

Tucked away beside a pond, the hotel has a lovely lawn and wonderful amenities. It was my first visit to New England, and it was just what I’d hoped for. The staff were always ready to help with anything we needed or wanted. One of my favourite hotel stays, and we can’t wait to visit again.
