Holiday Inn Express & Suites Cleveland West - Westlake by IHG

Breakfast was pretty good, and the hotel is clean and decently equipped. The suites have only one TV, positioned by the beds, so you can’t see it from the nice couch and sitting area. The beds are unusually firm, hard as a rock. If you want a softer bed, this probably isn’t the place for you.

The hotel was clean and quiet, and the bed was perfect. It’s close to a nice mall and the freeway. The only downside was that the hot tub was out of service. I’d stay again.

The staff were kind, and that’s the only reason I gave this place two stars. The rest of the stay was rough. The pool photos are misleading for what we found: the hot tub was taped off and out of order, and my kids and we barely slept. Noise carried through the night. Around midnight to 1 a.m., children ran in the halls and neighbors banged around in their room. By 7 a.m., there was screaming, crying, and even more banging. We called the front desk, but I had expected a hotel this far from Cleveland to avoid that kind of disturbance. The carpets were filthy and heavily stained, so much so that we asked to change rooms. The next room had been vacuumed, but the stains were still disturbing. They looked like they might not have been replaced in 20 years. This doesn’t feel like a three-star hotel. I wouldn’t stay at another Holiday Inn after this. Try the Hyatt Place in Crocker Park instead.

We chose this hotel for a night away so our grandchildren could swim, so learning at check-in that the pool was closed was a big disappointment. They said there had been a terrible accident, but the pool looked fine. With so many guests there that weekend, I wondered if they simply didn’t want to deal with it, though I can’t know for sure. The room was nice, the hotel was clean, and breakfast seemed good. Still, the pool closure spoiled the reason we booked.
