Sonesta Simply Suites Cleveland Westlake

My fiancé and I are staying here while we look for our forever home, in one of the two-bedroom loft suites. It’s very nice, and everyone on staff has been amazing and welcoming. Special shout-out to Jess, who’s absolutely wonderful and hardworking. Your company is lucky to have her. I’d be willing to work here if the rules changed so I could stay here 🙂

I love this hotel and the rooms were great, but there were several problems. We paid $75 in pet fees for three nights, even though the website says $5. When we pointed out the misleading information, the hotel didn’t seem to care. It hadn’t snowed for at least eight hours when we arrived in the evening, but the parking lot, sidewalks, and stairs still hadn’t been cleared. Getting to the rooms was dangerous, especially on the second floor. Management didn’t seem to care when we told them, and when we asked for a shovel to clear our steps, they didn’t have one. Do better.

This was our favorite stop on the road trip by far. The loft felt roomy, the rooms were spotless, and the kitchen area was handy. We also felt safe there, and the price was hard to beat. The front desk man seemed unfriendly at check-in, which had me a little concerned, but I’d happily stay again whenever I visit family in Lakewood. I’d recommend it and would come back over and over.

We’d stayed here before in a two-level suite and had a much better experience. This time, in Room 923, there were several problems: a broom but no dustpan, a broken bathroom towel rack, mismatched dishes instead of a proper set, a peeling-looking bathtub, no shower gel or floor towel, and a closet door off its track. The WiFi and cable also went out. Staff said it was weather related, though it was sunny and bright across most of northeastern Ohio, and we were also told a repairman was working on it. I don’t like being lied to. Then the fire alarm sounded around 2:15 AM while we were asleep. The fire department didn’t seem to arrive, and the alarm stopped after about 3-5 minutes. We stayed because the reservation was prepaid, but this was our last visit. We’ll find somewhere else next time we’re in the area.
