Molly at the front desk was easily the best part of the stay. She was kind, funny, friendly, and genuinely helpful. They should promote her and send her to a nicer location. The room had been updated, but the work felt cheap. The AC never worked, and the toilet wouldn’t flush at first until I fixed it myself. We chose the third floor to avoid noise from above, which was a good call because the floors are thin and the hallway creaks. Breakfast was mediocre, and we had to ask for things like forks to be replaced. The booths in the breakfast area are old and worn. The pool didn’t feel heated, and there was no hot tub. This didn’t feel like a four-star hotel; I’d call it a nice 2.5. The area felt sketchy, and there were homeless people around the property. While swimming with my kids, I saw someone hanging out by the back patio, picking at his nose. I also reread some of the reviews and wondered if they were padded. How would a guest know the names of every cook, housekeeper, desk worker, manager, linen attendant, and maintenance person, especially when the cooks aren’t visible and don’t even make the “fluffy waffles” mentioned? I wouldn’t recommend it as a family hotel with a pool. If you’re just passing through alone on business, it might be fine.

The employees were very nice, but the room smelled like there might be mold, and there were strange stains in one corner. Wallpaper was peeling in the halls, housekeeping never came to our room, and the mattresses were so worn you could see which side was used most. The elevator was out of service all weekend. They really need to put money back into maintaining the building.

Service was exceptional and everything else was good. I’m only giving one star to make clear there’s no hot tub and this isn’t really a four-star hotel. I’d rate it more like 2.5 or 3 stars. Anyone who knows how hotel star ratings work will understand that doesn’t mean the place itself was bad.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times and liked the rooms, and the staff have been good. The hotel itself is great, but be aware of the area, which feels sketchy through no fault of the hotel. Denver’s transient population seems to have grown over the years. This morning I heard banging outside my room and thought it was construction, until I heard someone yelling. I looked out and saw a man acting erratically, banging on metal and rolling around.

I booked two rooms for my mom and brother for Christmas, specifically because of the pool. My son wanted to swim with his grandma and uncle. The morning after check-in, my mom, sister, and son were racially profiled in the pool area by the maintenance man and a front desk employee. They asked whether they were guests, even though my mom had already spoken to the same woman earlier that morning. They questioned which room they were in and whether they were really staying there, then asked if they were using a stolen card. I had just arrived and overheard them. I told both employees that they were guests, that I booked the room for them, and that I’d added them to the reservation. They both said people I added to the reservation couldn’t use the amenities. I used to work at Marriott and at various Marriott hotels, and that didn’t seem right. I told them I was a member and a former Marriott employee, and that I didn’t appreciate how they were treating my mom and sister. As soon as I said that, they apologized and walked away. My family is Native American and darker-complexioned, and the two employees assumed we were another race. It was unpleasant, uncalled for, and really unprofessional. It put a damper on the rest of my mom’s trip. The rooms were clean and great, but the front desk’s treatment of us was the downside.
