For the price, I’d happily come back, probably with a friend who has a car. The beach is only a five-minute walk, and there’s an indoor heated pool, a game room, and a full frisbee golf course. The weak point is getting around without a vehicle: there’s nowhere nearby to get food, and the bus stop is about a mile away, a 20-minute walk. Gray Harbor Transit can pick you up on weekdays. I’d recommend the place.

I’ve stayed twice in the past month while work was being done on my local home, and neither visit gave me the sleep I needed. Both first-floor rooms had a very loud mechanical chirp every 90 seconds, like a smoke detector. I could hear it over the TV and shower, and even from the parking lot at least 20 feet away. It went on for multiple nights both times. My wife told the front desk during the second stay, but nothing was done. I’d bring noise-cancelling headphones if I stayed again. Surely the desk can hear it, and I’d bet the second floor can too. There are some good points. The rooms and lobby were clean, the beds comfortable, and the grounds pleasant. A room with sliding doors gives you easy outdoor access, and the TV lets you sign into Netflix and maybe other streaming services. Booking through a travel site is cheaper. I paid about $70 for one night that way, then asked for another night in the middle of the week in case the work at home wasn’t finished. The hotel charged $110 and assigned me what was probably the worst room, at the end of a hall between rooms designed to connect like a suite. There was no slider or outside access, so getting to my car meant walking around the hotel. I could also hear amorous neighbors. In the earlier room, I heard my neighbor snoring all night. This was January at the beach, with only five cars in the 60-space back lot, plus at least 60 spaces out front. I was probably one of just a few local guests, so I don’t understand why I got such a poor room at that price. The room was assigned on arrival. Other things made the stays harder. The Keurig pods tasted awful and seemed very old, possibly Amazon’s Essential brand, so bring your own if you use them. Half the outlets didn’t work, the fridge in one room rattled so badly I unplugged it, and two of the three lamps wouldn’t turn on. There’s no housekeeping in the off season, so for longer stays you need to take your trash to the lobby and ask for towels, toilet paper, and other supplies. The desk has limited hours, so plan around that for a late check-in or requests. The back exit is locked at 11 p.m. If your room and car are at the back, you have to walk all the way around to the front along a dark, unlit road with no sidewalk. Chateau, why not make the back entrance keycard accessible? And please take five minutes to fix that chirping.

My motorcycle left me stranded overnight on what was supposed to be a solo day trip to Westport, and I got a room here at the last minute. The fourth-floor view was beautiful, and the beach is a short walk away. Service was great, and I could get snacks at the front desk. There’s no A/C, but the room had plenty of fans. It was clean, and I felt safe for the night.

The memory foam bed was delightful, and the place was quiet. They’re remodeling the rooms. There are indoor and outdoor play areas for kids, an indoor pool, and a seafood cleaning area. The beach is within walking distance, and you can see the ocean from the fourth floor.

The rooms are nice and have a small kitchenette, and it’s a short walk down to the beach. There’s a kids’ game room and playground, picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of parking. Pets are welcome too.
