Motel 6 in Wethersfield, CT is exactly the sort of place to avoid if you're traveling and hoping to sleep well. The sheets had cigarette burns, the tub had a huge hole in its side, and the ceramic sink was permanently red-stained with who knows what. Hair was scattered over the dirty floor. People upstairs had a dog barking all night and kids stomping around nonstop. I was even uneasy walking to my car because of the sketchy people outside the room. Then there's the ice on the grounds. Nobody shoveled or put down ice melt, so you could slip and break a hip or leg. Think through the risks before booking, and in this case, the simplest way to avoid them is not to stay here.

The front desk woman was extremely friendly, helpful, and efficient, and the place did feel safe and was mostly clean. Those are my first hotel priorities, and at a low enough price I'd sleep on the floor if I got those things. But I also need a decent shower and an okay night's sleep, and this failed badly. The water pressure was so weak I couldn't rinse the soap off, and my wife's hot water cut out, along with the pressure. The bed bounced and felt lumpy, there were only two tiny flat pillows and the thinnest blanket I've ever slept under. Housekeeping also knocked a full hour before checkout to ask if we were staying another day. Fifteen to 30 minutes would make sense, but an hour?

The location beside Highway 91 is handy, but the Motel 6 Weathersfield Hartford needs more attention and upkeep. The rooms are cramped, and the furniture and bathrooms badly need renovation. Sheets had holes, and dirt was plainly visible on the beds, floors, and furniture. Even the toilet seat didn't look clean or new. Regular checks and small ongoing fixes could go a long way toward restoring the motel's potential.

We stayed out of desperation, and I regret it. The room was gross, filthy, and awful. There weren't any towels, the bathroom vent was loud, and parking was inconvenient. It was overpriced too. Those nonrefundable rooms must be the only way this place makes money. I'll never stay again. The pathetic reply from “the owners” will be a joke. They won't do anything to make it right for a paying customer, don't take reviews seriously, and won't make improvements.
