Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Wharton by IHG

I stayed in Wharton on 1/5/26. The shower water only got a little above warm, even with it turned all the way up. At check-in, I waited almost 10 minutes for the lady to show up. The phone rang off the hook twice, but there was no sign saying she’d be right back. When she finally came, there wasn’t even a hello. She just asked for my ID and credit card. She didn’t thank me for being a diamond member, ask whether I wanted points or a drink, or mention breakfast or Wi-Fi. Absolutely the worst customer service. The couple who came in right behind me said she treated them the same way.

I like holiday inn express a lot, and this one was similar in the good ways, with the rooms, hotel, breakfast, and so on. But they didn’t have key cards, for some reason. You either had to leave your door open or get someone from the hotel to open it. Also, the redheaded front desk lady was very serious. At 11 am they knocked and asked if we were leaving. I said yes, then two minutes later a woman came in to clean. She was embarrassed that we were still there and apologized, saying the redhead had told her to start cleaning. I might keep staying at holiday inn, but not this one.

The staff at this particular Holiday Inn Express were incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. This brand has long been one of my favorites, though not every location is the same, and this one really stood out. The hotel was peaceful despite being right off a major highway. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the continental breakfast was better than we expected. Coffee was available all day, so I could get up early, sit in the breakfast area, and watch the news while my wife slept in. We were there for one night while traveling from West Texas to buy an RV from a nearby dealership in Wharton. I’d highly recommend it to anyone passing through or staying nearby.

I’m writing about a very disappointing stay at the Holiday Inn in Wharton, TX. Room 213 had no shower curtain, so I had to use the shower in my father’s room, 215. The water pressure was extremely low and barely worked, and the bathroom exhaust fans in both rooms were out of order. These problems caused a lot of inconvenience and discomfort, and they’re unacceptable for a hotel of this brand. I’d rate the stay zero stars. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses it promptly. I look forward to a response.
