Baymont by Wyndham Indianapolis East

I was traveling with the Mackay FFA chapter, and we had a good stay. The hotel was clean, the rooms were large and comfortable, all the appliances worked, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in Greenfield.

We eventually left and found a much better stay at the Marriott up the road. We couldn’t get comfortable in either room, and I’ve stayed in motels, hostels, and all kinds of places over the years without feeling this uneasy. We just needed a bed for the night, but this wasn’t acceptable for any hotel. Don’t prepay here, either. They wouldn’t refund us because we checked in after 6 PM, and they pushed back when I asked. I was going to leave this out if they’d refunded us. We arrived late from out of town and saw sketchy people in the parking lot. The front desk person was nice, but our room had a horrible smell, like someone had used drugs or cats had peed everywhere. We turned around and left, with other sketchy people following us in the hallway. The desk offered another room, but after what we’d seen and how unsafe we felt, we couldn’t take it. The front desk guy was kind, but the rest of the experience was terrible.

My wife left her phone in the room at checkout, but the hotel says they don’t have it. Google’s Find My Phone still shows it at that location, and nobody will give me the manager’s name. The place was grimy and dirty, with a strong incense smell that seemed to cover a chemical odor. At night, seedy people were hanging around the back door, and it didn’t feel safe. It looks nothing like the pictures, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d leave no stars if I could.

The management and staff were all friendly. It’s in a great location, and the hotel was very clean. The rooms are spacious and the beds really comfortable.
