Alpine Village Suites

We were close to the trailheads, which was really convenient. Our little studio loft was comfortable and clean, with lovely views and a small deck outside furnished with a table and chairs.

The staff were friendly, and I liked the location. The rooms could use updating, and the carpet was a bit worn. I stayed two nights in two different rooms and was charged about $16-$20 more for each one than I’d been quoted when making the reservations by phone. Altogether, that was roughly $35-$40 extra. I’d stay at the Alpine Lodge again, but I’d check the quoted price against the actual charge.

The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay, and on our last day two young men even carried our bags up three flights of stairs. We had a family of four and our golden doodle in a superior loft, with plenty of room for everyone. The kids especially liked sleeping up in the loft. It’s a charming find, and the location puts you close to everything you might want in Taos Ski Valley.

Garrett and Gini are lovely hosts and put in a lot of effort to make guests comfortable. The outdoor hot spa has mountain views and a fireplace, and there’s a roomy sauna too. I stayed in a corner studio with a comfortable queen bed, a clean, spacious bathroom, kitchenette, and balcony. It worked well for one person or a couple, and the two single beds on a mezzanine reached by ladder could make it a good ski-in, ski-out option at Taos Ski Valley. There’s a lift, though some rooms may also require using stairs. The fridge, coffee maker, and two-burner stove made a week’s stay easier than a standard hotel room. It’s quiet and very central, under a five-minute walk from the ski lift, shops, and restaurants. I’d give it five stars if there were a gym in the building.
