Super 8 White Hall

I travel a lot for work, usually spending three nights a week on the road over the past four years. This job put me here for two nights, but I won’t come back. There was no hot water, just lukewarm to cold, and I found a roach crawling on the wall above the bed. At 11pm I asked to move rooms. The response was, “I can give you roach medicine.” I said I wouldn’t stay in a room with a roach, so they moved me to one with heavily stained sheets. I put my own blanket over them to get to bed, since I had to be up at 5.

The way this place does business makes me tell people not to stay here. Breakfast was awful: the potatoes were really chewy, the coffee wasn’t good, and there was no flavored creamer. Kitchen staff left a bag of batter in the pancake machine without setting it up or helping anyone, so I had to show people how to use it. They charge tourism taxes and all kinds of other fees, yet couldn’t provide a decent breakfast. Honestly, you’d be better off bringing your own food and staying in a tent.

The location right off the interstate is very convenient, and thankfully there’s a Burger King next door. The hotel didn’t come through on breakfast, though. When I got to the breakfast room around 7:30 am, all I found was three small yogurts, coffee, and juice. Something was stuck to the elevator floor, so it needed cleaning. And even though my room was non-smoking, the lobby and hallways smelled strongly of smoke.

We couldn’t wait to leave after our work stay last week. Our company books our hotels, so we didn’t get to choose. First thing, I had to clean sticky stuff off the sink and counter, clear out the mini fridge, and deal with hair left in the shower. A roach was climbing the wall behind the TV, so I packed everything except the clothes I planned to wear and took it to my car. We kept the Do Not Disturb sign on the door every day, but staff entered while I was at work without telling me before or after. I’d stay anywhere else.
