The Whiteface Lodge

Our suite was a lovely place for my family to get ready together on the wedding morning. It was roomy, cozy, and decorated beautifully for fall. We stayed two nights in October for our wedding, and everyone we dealt with was kind and helpful from the moment we arrived. After the ceremony offsite, we had our wedding dinner in a semi-private space at KANU. The food was delicious, and the team was wonderful to work with. Whiteface Lodge made the occasion feel amazing, and I’d recommend it for a wedding or another special event.

The calls about room service were a real frustration. We were given pamphlets for both hotel restaurants and told to phone in orders. We called once during the day and again around 8 p.m., well before the 9 p.m. closing time, and left voicemails both times. Nobody called us back, even though we were counting on the advertised room service. There were some nice things about the stay, including the pleasant atmosphere and thoughtful amenities, and the room itself was comfortable. But at check-in we found dirty clothes in the laundry basket, hair on the bathroom floor, and an unclean commode tank lid. I told the front desk while we were there and never heard anything further. As a visibly Muslim couple, I wondered whether our appearance might have affected the lack of response, even if unintentionally. I hope that wasn't what happened, but the difference between the hotel's otherwise welcoming feel and what we experienced left me uneasy. I'm sharing how it felt and hope it prompts more awareness and consistent service. I hope management takes these concerns seriously so every guest feels valued and properly attended to. My family and I stayed in Sep ‘25.

There was plenty to do on the property, from ice skating and hockey to bowling, hot tubs, and a heated pool that goes between indoors and outdoors. Once there, we didn't pay extra for things like coffee all day outside the restaurant, valet parking, or skate rentals. The place is beautiful, with spacious rooms and an aesthetic that feels inspired by lodges like Old Faithful Inn Lodge. The staff were exceptional. Thanks to Wendy for clearing the ice when he saw us skating, and to Kelly in housekeeping for tirelessly helping whenever we needed it. Will be back.

We'd often stop at Whiteface Lodge for a cocktail and lunch after snowmobiling, and the staff service used to be what brought us back. We'd never stayed there, though the property is absolutely beautiful. This past Valentines Day weekend, after an afternoon of snowmobiling, we were told to sit anywhere. Only two tables had guests, but we waited almost 20 minutes before a server acknowledged us. She said she'd bring menus, went to the bar to shake up cocktails, and never came back. By then ours was the only occupied table. We were so disappointed by the awful, unprofessional service that we decided to leave. Before we did, my husband saw staff chatting and dancing in the event room. I never expected to leave such a negative review about a beautiful, well-established hotel. This experience means we won't visit again. It may make no difference to the Lodge, but it truly made a difference to us.
