I was in a difficult spot and needed somewhere affordable. The rate was fair, and although there was a language barrier, it wasn’t a big problem. Over roughly three months I stayed in two rooms, and I had no complaints about either. The owner could be kind and understanding toward customers dealing with hardship, and tried to work with you as much as he could. But his behavior made me increasingly uneasy. He let himself into my room while I was showering more than once. I yelled for him to leave, but he ignored me and kept looking around for a few minutes. He also entered when I wasn’t there. I could tell because things had been moved and lights switched on or off. He’d press his face against my windows to look inside, which was very uncomfortable. Eventually I stopped staying there alone at night and sometimes went elsewhere. The final straw came around 1:30 a.m., when he unlocked the door without knocking, wearing only underwear, and asked where I’d been after I went out and came back. A few days later, I left and never returned.

They’ll bargain with you, which might be nice if you can get past the language barrier, but for me it wasn’t worth it at any price. The shower didn’t work, there were ticks in the room, the floors hadn’t been cleaned, and rats were in the ceiling, trying to get out through the bathroom vent. The sheets didn’t fit the beds either. One night the owner let himself in to check on us, saying he was checking the locks. It was a very uncomfortable situation.

I don’t plan to come back. The room smelled of vinegar, the sheets looked dirty or stained, and the blankets were wet. We got replacements, but the owner called them “new”; they were stained and smelled stale. He said that was what new blankets smelled like. We were too tired to bother changing hotels or complaining, so we stayed, even though we wanted to leave. One bed was old, hard and uncomfortable, and sank toward the middle as soon as you lay down. My mother had a rough time too. The owner didn’t seem to have time for guests. She rang the bell for about five minutes and nobody came, and he didn’t even know which key went to which room. There weren’t enough staff, and the owner’s wife yelled at me about something, though I’m not sure what that was about. Wow hardly covers it. Try to avoid this place if you can.

The room was filthy, smelled like throw-up, and had no working heat. I lasted an hour before leaving. Don’t stay here, it’s a dump.

The air conditioner barely worked, even on high all night, and the room stayed hot. There were spiders in the bathroom, blankets with holes, and a fridge packed with hard ice. I didn’t use the oven. After a shower, water ran all over the rest room. There was no toilet paper, the towels had holes, and you could hear people speaking loudly in the next room. The bathrooms felt cramped and trashy, and the place didn’t feel safe. We booked through hotels.com, but on arrival they said that was only a confirmation, not an actual booking, so we had to pay again. An older man was helping customers and doing his best to make them happy, so my 2 stars are for him. I have no idea how management expects to serve guests with these amenities.
