Hamilton House

Hamilton House is clean and comfortable, with outstanding food and service. Gloria is a witty, charming host, and her stories about the House and her own history are captivating and amusing. Ask her about John Belushi's exploit in the House. Her CIA culinary training shows in the excellent breakfasts. On the first floor there's a music room with a piano and a large sitting room that's great for conversation. My wife and I stayed in the second-floor Dega room. It was oversized, with an ornate king-size bed and a large adjoining bathroom with a spa tub, vanity, and separate makeup counter. The shower was small but more than adequate even for my large size. The windows are small, so there's little natural light, but the lamps make up for it. There's also a small refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and bottled water. The main concern for some may be the lack of ADA accessibility. Someone in our party had limited mobility but managed the six stairs from street level to the house.

Hamilton House was lovely for our rare couples' getaway. Gloria, the owner and a former NY chef, greeted us warmly, shared a little history of the 1861 house, and showed us to our room. It was beautifully decorated and maintained, with luxurious sheets and a comfortable bed. After a chilly day, the large whirlpool tub was just right. We had dinner at the nearby Italian restaurant Fanatico, which was very good, then an amazing breakfast in the morning, as the photo shows. I'd definitely return to the HH. The hospitality blew us away, and the Hamilton House itself is beautiful inside and out. The innkeeper was so welcoming and friendly. We had an amazing stay and look forward to coming back to try another room.

The food was awesome, everything was really clean, and the stay felt super carefree. I loved the surprise menu, and everything was fresh. Knowing how much Gloria enjoyed creating it made the meal even nicer. She was accommodating and great about whatever we needed to feel comfortable and relax. We're a mid-30s couple, covid conscious and worn out from the kids, and wanted a quiet night away. We knew little about the area and found Hamilton House through a Google search. It definitely wasn't what we'd usually choose, but we were very happy with the stay and highly recommend it.
