Vagabond Inn Whittier

The grounds were neat, the pool was clean, and the location was convenient. We slept comfortably, and the AC got ice cold, which suited me since I tend to be hot. But there weren’t enough towels for the number of guests listed on the booking. The bathroom was tiny, water splashed all over, and the curtains didn’t do enough. We brushed our teeth with bottled water because the sink water looked cloudy. The fridge leaned and wasn’t cold, while its freezer had such a huge glacier inside that there was barely room for anything. We asked room service to clean and they said they would, but after leaving in the morning and coming back at night, nothing had been done. The office and lobby smelled of cigarettes, and keeping the lobby door locked was odd.

The only downsides for me were limited parking and the shower towels being thin. Otherwise, this was a great fit and a well-kept place. I’m from Cali and thought I knew this area, though it didn’t used to be this nice. We were glad we booked a room here. The host was great, and the rooms have been fully updated. There’s a fridge, soap dispensers, microwave, large closet, coffee maker, TV, drawers, and hardwood floors. It’s better than some more expensive hotels I’ve stayed in. The location is great for Rose Hills. I didn’t need the soap I brought, since most hotels only give you tiny bars, and the big, flat rain-style shower head was a nice touch. Pretty good place to stay.

This has become our regular place whenever I come to Cali to visit. My mom and I find it clean and comfortable, and it’s affordable. The neighborhood is nice, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

We had a great little getaway here, and the room was very clean. It was mostly quiet too. The parking lot can fill up on busy weekends, but my car was fine on the street for the one night. I’d definitely come back.
