Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wichita Airport by IHG

I'm a diamond preferred member, and this was one of the worst stays I've had. I was looking for a restful night's sleep, but this hotel shows a lot of wear, and there were teenagers running around and making noise without anyone addressing it. I asked for a high floor away from the elevator, but got a second floor room right beside it. The doors and walls aren't insulated well, so you hear everything there. The first room they gave me was missing a TV. They had no rooms left, so they gave me a king room instead of one with two beds. Manager Victor seemed not to care and mocked me when I raised the issue. There are much better places to stay in the area.

The staff were very friendly, the rooms were nice and clean, and breakfast had a decent number of options. There's also a small store for drinks and snacks. We were a little concerned about the area, but had no issues. The Holiday Inn is right by the airport and just off the interstate, with lots of restaurants nearby. Some questionable hotels are close by, and there's a speakeasy just a stone's throw away. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area.

This place needs a remodel. When I tried to adjust the shower angle, the whole shower head came off. We told the desk attendant and expected it to be fixed while we were out, but apparently maintenance finishes around 4 p.m., and there's no one to handle issues after that. The cleaning could be better too. We found different kinds of trash behind the corner chair.

The rooms were clean and the hotel was nice, but there were some cockroaches and beetles in the pool. That wasn't a big deal. What really bothered me was the secret bar between la Quinta and this hotel. I didn't know it was a bar and pole dancing club, and it blares music until 2 a.m. midweek. I was here for business, with a room right next to it. A terrible spot if you want to sleep.
