Surfcomber Motel

We’ve come back for each of the past nine summers and have never had a problem. The rooms and pool are consistently clean, and the staff are accommodating and great to deal with. Michael is all class, and his team reflects that. With the good location, fair price and easy parking, I highly recommend it.

We’d booked ahead, paid a deposit and traveled from Atlanta, only to arrive during two major conventions and learn that they’d double-booked us. We were left scrambling and had to pay three times as much for another MOTEL. There was no accountability, professionalism or apology. When I asked to speak with the owner who had made our reservation, I was turned away and never got a call back.

The rooms suited us perfectly, and we could walk to everything. The front desk woman was the best part of the visit. I thought we might arrive after check-in, so I called; she told me not to worry and asked me to call at 9 with an ETA so she could get us the key. Another day, we left our key in the door and she found it and called me. We travel and eat out a lot, and don’t often get this kind of thoughtful hospitality. She’s a wonderful person, and they’re lucky to have such a dedicated employee. We’ll definitely be back.

They double-booked our room, leaving us without anywhere to stay. We’d come all the way from ATL for a busy weekend, and they didn’t apologize or even try to help. We ended up stranded and had to pay three times as much for another motel. I’ve never had a worse experience.
