I stayed at Monticello Powarhan apartments for 2.5 months while visiting my son and came away very impressed. The facility is well maintained and conveniently located. There's a very good, functional gym and an excellent common area in the leasing office. Staff were helpful and quick to respond.

Monticello at Powhatan has lovely surroundings and a welcoming feel, and the fitness center and summer pool are especially nice amenities. The staff are attentive and friendly, and they respond quickly to maintenance requests and general questions. Logan, the property manager, stands out for being professional, knowledgeable, and clearly invested in residents having a positive experience. Every interaction I've had has been pleasant and efficient. I'm very happy I chose to make Monticello at Powhatan my home, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to live.

My mother lived here for four years, and things were fine at first. Then her AC problems began. It was constantly out or leaking, and never worked properly. Once, it leaked so badly that water ran over the electrical panel, and she had to empty buckets all day. Her bedroom closet flooded, too. Maintenance helped move her things out, but no one helped put them back, even though she was 74. There was a striking level of incompetence throughout her stay, and they never repaired the drywall damage in the laundry room from the repeated leaks.

We were promised a lot when we moved in, but we've had plenty of problems. I only trust McKenzie, maintenance and the concerige trash. Ari gave us an address that was already rented. The manager kindly did a wellness check on me, which I appreciated. We're permanently disabled, yet they didn't apply the fair housing act. There's radon on the marble counters. We were also meant to get discounts on all utilities, but the electricity costs a fortune. A mattress pad has to block the draft coming through the door, our WiFi is being piggybacked by other neighbors, and the mailboxes aren't secure. The neighbors are friendly enough, but they show no compassion for my illnesses. I had a systemic UTI and they raged at me because my service dog got out. I'd like to move to 1804 since it's open, but at some point I intend to break my lease because this place is a rip off. I've donated so many things to them, and what have they done for me? I told them I'm a recovering alcoholic, then they invited me to sip and social, where I could have relapsed. I've got a ton of antiques I'm trying to liquidate, and only one resident reached out today. One!

My family and I found this a great place to live. The home was comfortable, safe, and well organized inside and out, and the people here were kind. The location worked well for us: there's a market within a five-minute walk, and several historic sites, William & Mary University, the regional library, an art museum, Colonial Williamsburg, and beautiful golf courses are all within a 15-minute drive. The community center team, from the manager to maintenance, were friendly and helpful. Vivianne, the assistant manager, welcomed my family warmly from our first day and helped us settle into Williamsburg. I'm grateful to her and to the management. If we can live in Williamsburg again, my family and I would like to return.
