Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, an official Colonial Williamsburg Hotel

Just off Colonial Williamsburg, this is a beautiful hotel and our room was clean and in great shape. The beds are firm but comfortable. Breakfast is continental, so don't expect anything hot, though there was enough to put together a nice meal. The shuttle to the colonial area runs from the hotel except on federal holidays, and the park is close enough to walk.

The staff at Williamsburg Woodlands handled a difficult situation with real professionalism and compassion. Travelers from around the state were arriving upset after being told their Williamsburg Lodge conference reservations had been transferred, in a very unprofessional way, to a hotel far from the conference. Despite that, the Woodlands staff treated us well. The hotel is somewhat dated, but very clean and comfortable. Its lobby worked well as a place for me to set up and work, and I was glad to find a quiet, accessible walking trail into the historic district. Williamsburg Lodge did them no favors, but the staff at Williamsburg Woodlands still shone.

We've stayed here twice and felt right at home both times. The rooms are very clean, and the staff across the board are wonderful, from the front desk to breakfast and housekeeping. The lobby looked beautiful at Christmas.

The setting is quiet and peaceful, tucked in the forest but only minutes from several attractions. My husband especially liked the location, and the front desk staff were a real bright spot: warm, helpful, and so accommodating they made us feel like old friends. We booked this unusual place mainly because the price was reasonable, but the online photos were outdated and misleading. The room was mediocre, the furniture old, and the carpet had a noticeable smell. If management updated the furniture, remodeled, and refreshed the exterior, the hotel could do really well with its location and staff. For now, I'd suggest it for a short 2-3 night stay if you just need somewhere to sleep. If they renovate, I can see it becoming a great experience for every guest.
