Hampton Inn Williamston

The room was roomy enough for us and all our things, and it’s next to a gas station and an open field. People were out walking for exercise in the morning, and it was easy to get to Walmart and other places to eat. The service was impeccable, and everyone was extremely nice. I’ve stayed in places that would creep most people out, and this wasn’t one of them. Still, the King suite’s mattress had a large dry brownish-red stain, and it wasn’t comfortable. I was exhausted after a seven-hour drive, so I covered the stain with trash bags, put the mattress protectors back, then used my compact travel sheets over the sheet and pillows like a sleeping bag and sprayed Lysol. The sleeper sofa also had white stains on its side, though we didn’t use it. Hampton is usually a favorite, but this one felt dated. The mattress issue could have been fixed, but I didn’t feel like repacking and moving rooms. Without the stained, uncomfortable mattress, I’d have given five stars.

For about two weeks, I got the quiet sleep I needed after long days working outside. It’s nice to come off the interstate without hearing all the traffic noise, though you could miss the place if you aren’t looking for it. The front desk staff, housekeeping, and janitors were welcoming and respectful. The owner/GM even admitted he’d forgotten to order a replacement coffee maker. Respect to everyone working there.

Our vacation plans changed because of Hurricane Erin, so we met relatives here to figure out what to do. We wound up staying overnight, along with lots of other people. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was hot and plentiful, and the room was clean and adequate.

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and comfortable the room was. The service was accommodating too, and I’d highly recommend the hotel.
