We needed somewhere to stay for two nights after my daughter’s wedding at the Brookshire inn. Okemos was booked up for MSU homecoming, and this place was close to town. The owner was flexible and great to deal with, and parking was plentiful. The room was a regular motel size, clean, and had a hot shower, fridge, microwave, and a new TV. Everything worked. It’s an older, no-frills place, so don’t expect everything to be brand new. Newer blankets and comforters would make it top notch.

I was worn out after a long trip and some questionable places to stay, but this spot let me finally relax. My room was spotless, the bathroom felt welcoming, and there was coffee and homemade cookies waiting. The manager clearly cares about guests and keeping things clean. The pillows and mattress were sealed under the bedding, and I slept until around 11 because I felt so comfortable. Friends, this is the place.

The owner was super friendly when I checked in for the Luke Bryan farm tour concert. My room was clean and smelled nice, and the bed was as comfortable as a motel bed can be. If you need a place in this small town, I’d recommend this safe, affordable motel.

The bed was comfortable and there was a fridge in the room. Check-in normally ends at 8pm, but they offer late check-in for $10. We arrived at 9:45 and had no trouble getting in, and the guy who checked us in was nice. The room was small and clean, just what you’d expect. There’s a Trump sticker on the office’s front window, which didn’t feel very welcoming.

The receptionist was very sweet, and the male owner was nice too. The room looked much better than the outside and came with bottled water, homemade cookies, and lots of other goodies. But they don’t allow pets, even though the owner’s mother, who lives in an apartment beside the eight-room motel, has a dog on site. Their explanation is that she lives there and it isn’t part of the motel. That feels highly hypocritical to me. We’re from Detroit and had our puppies with us while dealing with serious car trouble. The online price is misleading too. It says $66 a night, but after taxes it’s $73, and checking in before 1pm costs another $10. That’s ridiculous for one day, especially since we weren’t staying the whole time. We weren’t due to check out until 1pm on 10/13/21, but work and school meant we had to leave tonight. Only stay here if you have to, especially if you have animals or can find a more reasonably priced option.
