Coho Cottages

My husband and I are so glad we came across this little cottage. It smelled fresh and was incredibly clean, especially the floors and bathroom. The screened porch had a cozy seating area, and there was a nice kitchenette with a fireplace, too.

We were in the Spa Cabin, and the bed was so comfortable. The cabin itself was lovely, and everything looked newer and clean. The shower was fantastic, with two shower heads and lots of warm water, though I had to use my husband’s flashlight because the light in the shower was out. Several other bulbs were out too, including one over each of the two bathroom sinks and the main ceiling light, which made putting on makeup tricky. We arrived late and left early, so I didn’t want to bother anyone about replacing them. I left a note and hope they’ve been changed by now. We also ran out of toilet paper the morning we left and couldn’t find any in the cabin, but I had an emergency roll in the car, so we managed. The owner had texted and called with reservation and entry details, which was great. We got there after dark, though, and the man sitting on the porch went inside after we parked and couldn’t be found. Finding the cabin was a bit of a task until some other renters showed us a map and helped. Willow Creek doesn’t have a ton to do, but we were just passing through, so it suited us. I’m not a cabin or camping person, but I love telling people I stayed in a cabin in the mountains. They don’t need to know it was a “spa” cabin with all those amenities. Overall, I’d stay again, maybe for longer next time.

We were passing through from Oregon to Santa Rosa for a couple days of rest. The small town was quaint, and the local bar had friendly bartenders and patrons. Unfortunately, there were ants in the TAO room. I thought I’d handled them in the kitchenette, but by morning they were crawling over the nightstand, bed, and other surfaces. Management brought ant repellent and traps after we called, but wouldn’t refund the second night. We left and drove to Santa Rosa a day early. I understood that this cabin is in the mountains, but it was disappointing that they wouldn’t refund us because of the lack of cleaning.

The covered porch was a highlight, and I liked how the cabins are positioned to give everyone a sense of seclusion. We stayed in the summer cabin on our road trip through northern cal, and it was spacious, super clean, well equipped, and thoughtfully designed. There was plenty of room for our family of four and our dog. Coho Cottages was a lovely find in the middle of the forest.
