McGregor Inn Motel

There are only nine rooms, so it never feels crowded, and the few guests I met were friendly. I've never felt as comfortable and safe at a motel as I did here, just like at home. I'd definitely recommend it if clean and comfortable matter more to you than fancy amenities. This is an older, small, no-frills place, and I loved it. The rooms are compact but very clean and well cared for, with the basics: a small fridge with a separate freezer and a microwave. I spent a week there and never felt cramped. I liked sitting at one of the two picnic tables, looking at the nature and watching the local happy-hour scene across the street. It was great for lunch or a snack, and it never got loud, even with live music. Fresh coffee was ready by 7am, with donuts or cereal in the office. Gail and Jeff were wonderful. They'd pause what they were doing to answer questions or offer directions for whatever you wanted to do. The location worked well for dropping my husband at the track in the morning, then heading toward the Lake George area for ziplining.
