I got the $250 smoking fee refunded after emailing management a photo of the room, but the whole experience left a bad taste. The front desk staff I met in person were polite and friendly, and I even chatted with one of them for a while. A few days after I left, though, management called to say they were charging me a nonrefundable fee because my non-smoking room smelled like marijuana and needed a special device to clear it. I told them it already smelled that way when I checked in. I've never smoked in my life, and I have asthma. There was a QT storm ozone generator on the desk when I arrived. I asked if that was the device they'd used, but the woman on the phone said they only put it in after a guest leaves. When I asked what evidence they had besides the odor that was already there, management said they'd also found ashes. They couldn't say where. I pointed out that they had told me the ozone generator is only placed in a room if staff think someone smoked there, and I had a photo from check-in showing it on the desk. The manager then asked why I hadn't mentioned it. I didn't know it wasn't supposed to be there. I was in CT for a pageant and stayed at Candlewood Suites by the airport the first weekend of December 2025. I arrived Saturday night and noticed a faint weed smell. I didn't make an issue of it then because I had somewhere to be, and I was mostly out during the day for pageant activities, returning late at night. I left Monday morning. It seemed to me the staff knew someone had smoked in my room, tried to clear the smell before I arrived, forgot to remove the machine, and then blamed me afterward, including for not raising the alarm about the machine.

The bed was really comfortable, and the hotel has a pool, a good gym, laundry, and a decent snack shop. The rooms have kitchenettes, with things like Crock pots and blenders available to borrow. It's a basic place that works for a night, with a location close to the airport. The Laxfly shuttle runs often and the trip takes 10 minutes. The fourth floor hallway floors and elevator were dirty and smelled of smoke. The hotel could use updates and modernization, and the customer service lacked the little extra, like a smile at check-in or more attentive staff.

The kitchenette may help if you're staying more than a day, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I know. For $50 more, you can stay somewhere nearby. The hotel is smelly, dated, and gross, and the maintenance seems to amount to duct tape and super glue. The shower head and hair dryer were dirty, the bathroom mirror was ruined, the tub looked awful, and the night table was damaged.

The room was clean and standard, but nothing special, and there was no breakfast, which surprised me given what we paid. A nearby hotel offers breakfast for the same price or less. It's fine for one night. The room type I booked wasn't available, but the front desk attendant did their best to accommodate us.
