Days Inn by Wyndham Windsor Locks / Bradley Intl Airport

I was in Connecticut for a funeral, and they made me feel at home. The rooms were clean and the water pressure was great. My other booking in Enfield had overbooked and wanted to charge more than the online price I had reserved and was supposed to pay at the hotel. I came back closer to the airport for my early flight home, and the woman at the desk didn't gouge me on Valentine's Day.

The whole hotel smelled bad and felt full of dust and pollution. At times I could barely breathe. My room was nasty, with roaches, mold and peeling underneath the sink, a stained toilet, and a completely disgusting bathroom. This is the worst hotel I've stayed at. It ought to be shut down. If it's the last available, avoid it like the plague.

The airport shuttle was the only redeeming feature, though it serves all the hotels by the airport, so it barely counts. There was nothing in the room to drink from, no coffee pot, and the phone was dead. The air conditioner didn't work. The bed was lumpy, and the pillows were half pillows. The toilet was falling off the wall. When you sat on it, it dropped, and a piece of pipe they'd put underneath stopped it from falling all the way to the floor. It made a horrifying noise. I wish I could upload photos of it, because you wouldn't believe it. The hotel is a disgrace.

A clean room, a good hot shower, and a free continental breakfast. It's nothing fancy, just a decent place to stay and move on. We landed at the airport at 12:30 in the morning, and the hotel gave our party of six a free shuttle to the hotel. The next day they drove us back to the airport to get my rental car. There's also a 24-hour McDonald's right next door that my kids and grandkids enjoyed, and the hotel is only a mile from the airport.
