Hampton Inn & Suites Baltimore/Woodlawn

Saravan deserves to teach a class on courtesy and customer service. The bed was great, the water pressure was excellent, and I loved the quiet pool and spotless, well-equipped fitness room. Everything felt new. They enforce Quiet Hours, and even the air system barely makes a sound.

The check-in and checkout staff both left us feeling unwelcome, and the room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned. We found another guest’s key cards and an empty bottle in the trash. When I phoned the front desk about it, the woman was no help and hung up again. We went to the lobby to ask for a manager, only to be told there was no management on duty at night. She spoke quietly, apparently because there were cameras around, but she was still completely unhelpful and rude. At checkout, a different front desk woman also seemed unhappy with her job. We’d driven up from NY to visit friends in MD and get away from stress, but this ruined the trip. Before we arrived, we called because we couldn’t tell which of the three buildings was the hotel. The same woman said only, “we are in the middle,” gave no directions or instructions, then hung up. When we finally checked in after 8 PM on April 17, 2026, she had a cast or brace on her leg and didn’t greet us or offer decent customer service. We were tired from the long drive, so we stayed that night and booked another hotel for the next one. At THE HOTEL ARUNDEL PRESERVE, we got the service we’d expected as guests, the complete opposite of Hampton. I can’t recommend this hotel.

The coffee was cold, the floors were dirty, and the shower water never got warm. On the second floor, we even had to poke a finger into the elevator button hole to press it. This place has gone downhill so much. We’ve stayed about six times because my sister in law lives roughly 3 miles away, and we were in town for a death in the family.

I’d rate it around 2.5 stars. I paid a bit extra for a bigger room, but several fixtures were loose. The tub bar rings wobbled, the toilet paper holder could pop off if you weren’t careful, and a bathroom door towel holder came off too. They could be put back, but the metal clanging onto the floor was startling. The lobby by the elevators looked pretty worn and could use updating. Staff were friendly enough, though not especially energetic.
