Days Inn by Wyndham Winnemucca

My husband and 9-year-old son stayed here on a painful trip to see my dying mother-in-law. After checkout, my son realized he'd left his Spider-Man wallet in the room. He'd saved the $42 inside himself. They called within an hour, but were repeatedly told that no wallet had been found or turned in. This was the only place it could have been left. We know things can get missed during cleaning, but the firm denial so soon after checkout was deeply disappointing. It hurts to tell a child that the money he saved is just gone. We'd thought this might become our regular stop when visiting family back home, but that won't happen now. I hope management takes this seriously, looks into its procedures, and does the right thing.

There's a lot to like nearby, with several good restaurants within walking distance and the highway right there. The lot is VERY tight if you're driving a long vehicle or towing a trailer, but the front desk guy is an EXCELLENT spotter.

The Griddle is only about a five-minute walk away, and it was outstanding. This Days Inn surprised me with how clean and nice the room was. The decor was pleasant, the TV was big, and it seems to have been remodeled recently. Most Days Inns I've stayed in have been more like 2-3 stars. Breakfast was more grab-and-go than a traditional hotel breakfast. It's set up in the lobby, with only a few tables. The door had a huge gap around it, so light, air, dust, and bugs can easily get in. The bed was hard, like beds in every hotel, and parking is very tight. A trailer or large vehicle won't fit. Oversized street parking may be hard to find if the side street is full, so you might have to park and walk.

We checked in late, and they were expecting us and very friendly. The room and the whole place were clean, and the bathroom had been redone. Breakfast included waffles, oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, and different breads to toast.
