Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Winnemucca

Nancy at breakfast was the reason I’d come back. She was attentive and polite, with such a warm, kind presence. The room itself was decent for an overnight stop, though the front desk service felt dry.

Even now, I’m still shocked by how unclean my room was. I stayed one night here in July, and the room seemed to have been vacated shortly before I arrived. There was no shampoo, and the trash can had damp coffee grounds in it. I didn’t spot the trash right away, but then I was swatting at little bugs flying around it. The photos I uploaded show what I mean. When I told the desk clerk the next day, she didn’t seem surprised. She made no eye contact and didn’t apologize. I won’t stay at a Fairfield Inn and Suites again.

The breakfast was good value, and being the only hotel in town is an advantage. Still, I was disappointed by the rate. The rooms aren’t laid out well, and neither the bathroom door nor the front door opens properly.

We’ve stayed here for a week every June for the past three years to visit our kids. Each time we’ve been told the problems weren’t their standard and wouldn’t happen again, but here we are with the same issues. I’ve stayed at hundreds of Marriott’s across the US and Canada, and this Winnemucca location is so far from Marriott standards that I’d get better service at a Motel 6. Hopefully a call to Marriott corporate can get things improved. On Wednesday, the AC was extremely noisy. Maintenance had already left for the day at 2 pm, so they moved us to another room. The staff seemed put out, and when we were moving our things, the manager was in the original room saying they couldn’t hear anything. You’d have to be deaf not to hear it. The hotel advertises daily room cleaning. On Friday, we asked several times for clean towels and finally got some from a cleaner we found in the hall. On Saturday, we asked to have the room cleaned and the garbage emptied. They said we were on that day’s list, but when we came back at 9 pm, nothing had been done.
