Comfort Inn & Suites Winnie

I was here for a few days on a business trip, and this would be my go-to place if I'm in the area again. It's only 30 minutes from the beach. The hotel sits between two highways, but I didn't hear traffic at all. In fact, it was one of the quietest hotels I've stayed in. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The place is starting to show a little age, but it's still clean, nice, and reasonably priced. There's a Jack in the box right out front, and Tia Juanitas, a great sit-down spot for seafood, is a couple of driveways south.

On the way home from Twitchcon2025, we stayed here and found it much nicer than I expected. Room 109 was clean, the AC worked really well, the beds were comfortable, and the lighting was good. The shower was fantastic, and the bathroom was spotless. Breakfast was good too: fresh scrambled eggs, sausages, oatmeal with toppings (my favorite), bread, muffins, cereal, and waffles. It was budget friendly, and I'd stay again. The staff were so friendly and helpful that I gave five stars, even though there are a few little things that could be better. The bathroom could use brighter lights. I was fine, but my dad has trouble seeing, and the shower curtain blocks what little light there is when he's showering. Brighter LED bulbs would fix it easily. The toilet is so close to the wall on the right that the toilet paper roll almost touches it, leaving little room for your right leg. That's not an easy fix, since it would mean moving the holder or changing the plumbing. The hallway carpet also has some bumps underneath. It's still fine to walk on, just noticeable. I had a clean, smooth stay at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Winnie last week. The staff were friendly, and everything went fine at check-in and during my visit. I liked it enough to book another Comfort Inn & Suites elsewhere. That second place didn't meet the same standard, and I left a negative review. I now realize it may have been attached to the Winnie location by mistake. The review was meant for the Comfort Inn in Houston, TX, at 3555 FM 1960 Rd W, Champions area (ZIP 77068), not the Winnie property. I highly recommend the Winnie location if you want somewhere clean, safe, and welcoming.

The air conditioning sucks, the carpet has lumps in the floors, and the mattress was old. This whole place badly needs an upgrade. I can't believe Expedia gives it a 9.2, it should be a 2.0.
