The Edgewater Hotel

The historic building and its rooms, decorated to match the era when it was built, add plenty of charm to its spot in downtown WG. Service was great and attentive to details. There’s also a seating area at the end of the second-floor hallway that’s worth a look. Read the guidelines they give you at check-in, since they answer practical questions like how to lock the door and turn on the shower. The check-in itself requires calling someone, which isn’t very convenient, though I suppose that’s part of the charm. Breakfast was disappointing. I expected something more sophisticated, especially since the restaurant next door serves amazing food. It’s a quaint place overall. I’m not sure why there were so many “Jesus Saves” stickers everywhere.

We had no internet trouble at all. My husband and I both worked during the day, and the WiFi was great. Our room layout was handy, with two rooms joined by the bathroom, so we could each take video conferences during the day. The staff were all very nice. If I remember correctly, they’re from a missionary. The hotel is right in historic Winter Garden, beside the West Orange Trail, with lots of restaurants close by. Breakfast is made to order, included, and delicious, and they’ll bring it to your door or serve it in the dining room, whichever you prefer. Fruit, snacks, water, and coffee are also available in the dining room all the time.

If seeing staff in “Jesus is Enough” T-shirts and cards around the hotel with the same message feels welcoming to you, you may like this place. I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise. I wasn’t offended by the religious items, as the owners’ May 20, 2025 response suggested. I found them unwelcoming.

The breakfast is so good I’d go to bed and set an alarm to make sure I didn’t miss it. It’s homemade and cooked to order. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect, with lots of places to eat nearby. We liked getting ice cream at scoops and walking along main street in the evenings. We went to Disney, but I think we’ll return just to stay at the hotel and enjoy the town. The town’s atmosphere makes you want to move there. If you can get a room here, it’s easily the best choice in the area. We loved it and you’ll fall for the place fast.
