TownePlace Suites Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS

The rest of my convention stay went well, but check-in was a frustrating start. I arrived early and the English lady at the desk told me to return in a few hours. At 4:03 p.m., she said my room still wasn’t ready, that 20 reservations were ahead of me, and it might be another hour. She took my name and number, but while I waited on the couch, someone else in a suite was checked in. That was hard to understand. After another hour, a different shift worker told me my room had been ready and apologized that the lady hadn’t contacted me. He knew I’d been awake for 26 hours and offered free parking. I told Expedia customer service about the incident. I travel often for work and didn’t enjoy writing this. So far, management has only said they’ll do better.

For a Disney trip on a limited budget, this place worked well. The rooms are plain, but the beds were comfortable, and getting to the parks by car was easy, usually within about 20 minutes from stop to stop. There’s also a free shuttle, though we skipped it because the timing would have been too restrictive. Parking costs $15 a night, among the cheapest hotel options near Disney. Breakfast had hot food and a good variety, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The A/C was a little noisy, but we didn’t need it on overnight.

The staff are nice and the hotel seems clean, and at around $200 a night it’s cheaper than Disney resorts. We’re here for two nights, but this king “suite” is one of the smallest rooms I’ve stayed in. There’s barely any bathroom counter space, and the toilet sits so close to the paper roll that you have to remove it to sit comfortably. The four pillows are squishy and flatten right away. I asked for more shortly after check-in, then called again hours later, and still wasn’t hopeful they’d arrive before bed. The TV is bolted to a side wall instead of facing the bed, so you can mostly listen to it. For this price, it’s ridiculous. I’m ready to go back to Hilton hotels and don’t expect to return. I’ll add photos before we leave in case they help someone else avoid this.

The staff at TownePlace Suites by Marriott Orlando at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS Town were consistently polite and helpful, and Glen listened carefully when I raised a few concerns. He said they’d be addressed, and I appreciated his openness. The hotel and room were clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Some small room details could use updating, and the unexpected water loss was inconvenient, though manageable. Neither issue took much away from a very good stay. I’d definitely come back.
