The room I stayed in was dirty, and the lobby was filthy. The carpets were so grimy our shoes stuck in the hall and room, and there was a used Q-tip beside my pillow. The pool was dirty too. The breakfast was just eggs and sausage microwaved by an employee who wasn't wearing gloves, and the breakfast room had sheets hanging on the walls. The lobby's supposed fresh ice water looked like it had been sitting there for days. There was no air conditioning, and the room never reached the temperature I set. The photos online were old and misleading. After I complained, the hotel wouldn't return my money. The employees kept saying they weren't authorized to issue a refund, and when I asked for a manager they said he wasn't there. Sure, “Kevin.” They also kept my $150 deposit. Avoid this place. It's a hellhole, and a waste of time and money.

The only things I can say in its favor are that the location was convenient and being in the Meijer complex was handy. We booked because the hotel had a pool, but it was closed after a leak a few days earlier. The first room had no towels, a toilet with a broken flush handle, a glass closet door coming off its track, dirty mirrors, a phone cord that fell out when I picked up the phone, and a broken latch lock. When I asked to cancel, the desk clerk said there was no refund because we'd booked through booking.com. He offered another room instead. That room was somewhat better: it had towels, a working toilet handle, and a closet door that worked better. But it still had two lights that didn't seem to work, a broken light panel, and a mirror smudged with fingerprints and possibly a footprint. The hallway smelled strongly musty, and three rooms across from us were open with a loud fan or heater blasting inside. We didn't want to stay, but couldn't get our money back, so we tried to make the best of it. The beds were at least somewhat comfortable. The heater was so loud it woke us during the night. In the morning, breakfast amounted to one sausage and maybe enough eggs for one person. The breakfast tables had sheets over them, and the sheets were badly stained. We ate elsewhere. The place looked extremely run-down overall.

On 12/31, I was there with my four children, and we were not going to stay in that dirty room. There were stains everywhere, dusty surfaces, and dirty sheets; the hallways and elevator were dirty too. The pool wasn't available, and the front desk staff weren't helpful. The parking lot hadn't been plowed even though the streets had. It feels like they don't care for the property. I'm hoping for a refund and waiting for Kevin to call me.

The place is dirty and smells bad, and it needs a complete overhaul. Even the lobby looks like a grandmother's 1970 basement, and the rooms aren't any better. A national hotel chain shouldn't look like this. If you have any self-respect, don't stay here. Just walk out, or sleep in your car if you have to. There are plenty of other nearby places to choose from.
