Eric at the overnight front desk went out of his way to help me during a blizzard, and I was so touched that I had to write about it. I was pregnant and woke early for my shift, expecting to dig my car out of the deep snow. It had been plowed in, and the weather was awful. Eric saw me looking at the impossible job and offered to shovel without me even asking. He got the car out quickly, checked that I was okay, and politely turned down my tip. Then I saw him offering help to other people struggling with their cars, too. He did far more than his job required, and that kind of kindness is hard to find. He deserves employee of the month, a promotion, or whatever Holiday Inn Express can do to recognize him. Thank you, Eric, for helping me on such a rough morning. I hope other guests notice his efforts, and I'll be glad to stay here again. I was here for work, and the location was convenient, about four minutes from my job, near restaurants and a shopping plaza, and right by the highway exits. The room was clean and had a microwave, and breakfast was pretty decent. I only had a little interaction with the staff since my job had booked the room, but Eric made that brief contact memorable.
The rooms were the weak point for me. They felt cramped and dated, and need a serious refresh for a branded hotel at this price. Service was fine and got the job done, though it wasn't especially impressive. The Holiday Inn Express Boston North-Woburn is in a genuinely convenient spot for business in the northern suburbs or exploring the wider Boston area. The location is easily its strongest feature. Better rooms would make it a much more competitive option.
Eric at the front desk was amazing. During the blizzard on 1/25/26, I stayed here because my work was a short distance away. The next morning, 1/26/26, every car was buried in waist-high snow, and several colleagues and I were struggling to get out. Eric came outside and helped shovel out multiple cars. Mine was stuck, and after trying several times, he decided he'd need to push it free. We didn't even have to ask, he offered this exceptional help himself. He deserves a raise, a bonus, or some other sign of how grateful we are. Thank you so much, Eric! My room was clean and comfortable, and I was happy with my stay.
The walls were thin enough that you could hear everyone's conversations, but I still slept well every night. The room and beds were clean and comfortable, and every employee I met was really nice and helpful. We were visiting Boston and Salem, and the hotel was a bit out of the way, though only about a 25-minute drive from the main places we wanted to see. The elevator felt a little scary, haha, but nothing too bad. There are upgrades going on around the building, though they weren't noticeable or annoying. It was easy to get around, and there was a 24-hour gym with a nice setup and a jacuzzi spa. I didn't try the bar or restaurant, but they looked pretty good.
The hotel was being renovated, but it didn't really affect our stay. The front desk person was great, very efficient and happy to answer questions. Our room was spotless, though it had a faint smell, and the bathroom looked updated. Breakfast was pretty good, and it was easy to get to the hotel, with several restaurants just across the street.
