Ontario Gateway Hotel

The food had a comforting Cantonese feel without being too heavy. We had tender steamed fish with nicely balanced scallion soy sauce, plus lobster that was fresh and springy, even though its presentation leaned more toward a Western hotel style. There was also shrimp with broccoli, BBQ meats, and braised tofu. I went to a Chinese banquet at the Ontario Marriott a few days ago and was surprised by how beautiful it was. The lighting and decor felt calm and elegant, with a classic business banquet atmosphere. The conference rooms and banquet halls are quite large, and it seemed like they host corporate events and weddings. My friend joked that the food was the side character and the atmosphere was the main course, which honestly fit the upscale business dinner vibe. Some of the private rooms have karaoke, and the quiet setting, attentive service, and easy conversation made the event feel relaxed. It seems like a good place for family gatherings, business dinners, or weddings. The hotel also has a pool, gym, and lobby bar, alongside that polished Cantonese banquet experience.

The staff provided exceptional service, but the carpeting looked dirty and unattractive. For a hotel with its financial resources, it would make sense to update the flooring with something more modern and hygienic, such as wood or luxury vinyl. Complimentary breakfast would also make the stay better.

The staff are often described as friendly, professional, and helpful, and service is efficient from check-in to checkout. Common areas are clean and orderly, while the rooms are modern, well kept, and set up for comfort and work, with cozy beds and thoughtful amenities. Delta Hotels Ontario Airport is close to the airport, which helps for early flights and late arrivals, yet the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. There are convenient dining options and other amenities on site. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, the stay is presented as smooth and dependable, with consistent quality. It's a comfortable and convenient option near the airport, with courteous service and a polished feel.

The air conditioner ran constantly and never cooled the room, whatever temperature I set, so it was uncomfortable, especially during the warmer parts of the day. At checkout the front desk staff were disengaged and unhelpful, matching the inattentiveness I'd felt during the stay. I chose this Delta because I've had good experiences at other Delta properties and liked the idea of a restaurant and coffee shop on site. This location didn't meet the brand's standards for me. The room was adequate, but less refined than other Delta hotels where I've stayed. About two days in, I suddenly couldn't charge purchases to my room. I thought it was a technical problem, then a staff member said the hotel had turned off room charging because of a nurses convention where some guests didn't have cards on file. No one told me about the policy change, and management responded dismissively when I asked, without offering a fix. I use the Do Not Disturb sign for privacy and to protect my belongings, including a high-value laptop. Even so, I came back to find a note on the door saying staff planned to enter despite the sign. It felt passive-aggressive, unprofessional, and intrusive. With so many Marriott options nearby, I'd pick another hotel. This stay has made me reconsider Delta Hotels as a brand.
