Hampton Inn Potomac Mills/Woodbridge

This Hampton Inn in Woodbridge, VA is set back from busy streets, but still close to restaurants for lunch or dinner. We used the exercise facilities and had breakfast in the morning. The staff were helpful, and the rooms were nice and clean.

The room was clean, but the water pressure was weak and there was no hot water. I expected better from a Hilton Hotels sub-brand.

The common areas at the Hampton Inn were okay, and the front desk staff who checked me in were great. But I had a bad stay. My fourth-floor bathroom sink had water pressure problems, which I only noticed after unpacking. The next morning’s staff were rude and unhelpful, and the head of the cleaning staff was very unpleasant. The property itself wasn’t that bad, but the experience wasn’t good.

The next morning, when we tried to book another stay, the same front desk receptionist, Marsha, said we couldn’t rebook. When we asked why, she said she’d been given “Very specific instructions to not let us rebook with no explanation.” That doesn’t sound specific at all. She blamed the General Manager, Ford Francis, who couldn’t be reached until Monday. I’ve never felt more violated. Being turned away without a reason at a place I’d paid to stay left me thinking the only explanation was profiling or racial prejudice. When we arrived at Hampton Inn, Marsha had a short, snarky tone. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and not take it personally, but I was wrong. I plan to speak with regional management, and if there’s no justice, I won’t stop there. You cannot treat people like this.
