Homewood Suites by Hilton Woodbridge

The full kitchen had plates, utensils, and everything we needed, so we didn’t have to worry about much. The rooms were mostly clean, and I have no complaints about them. Breakfast was on point every day, with different items served from day to day. The people were great and really nice. I had a pretty good experience here.

The front desk manager was antagonistic, demeaning, and extremely unprofessional. The way I was treated was upsetting and unacceptable, and I expect the matter to be reviewed seriously. I booked a room at Homewood Suites, Woodbridge, VA, 22191, for my daughter’s birthday gathering through a third-party app for $235. I contacted the hotel beforehand to confirm details, but on arrival I was told payment had to be made in full on one credit card, with no cash or tap option. They also put a $150 incidental hold on my card without telling me. Then my card was charged four times: twice for $244, and twice for $150 and $159. The payment process felt completely untransparent and misleading. I hope they resolve this for future guests. Unless a company is paying, beware. Edit: The reservation terms clearly say the booking site doesn’t charge the customer and payment is made at the property. The property refused to accept another form of payment over a $1 difference. The declined card was a prepaid card the front desk employee specifically told me to buy. I followed their instructions, but the situation was handled unfairly. The reservation was for five children and one adult, within the occupancy limit stated in the room description.

We used to choose this hotel whenever we traveled down 95, but we won’t be staying again. The staff are friendly and the rooms are okay, though they were less clean than on earlier visits. Breakfast is horrible now, and the room costs a lot for a stay without a decent breakfast. The changes are upsetting. The new owners seem cheap and don’t put money into the place. They used to have ready-to-eat sandwiches, great waffle toppings, spinach and feta pastries, and much better choices. Now you build your own sandwich, but there are no bread options. No bagels, no boiled eggs or eggs at all, no milk, and no water. There’s one mini muffin, plus potato fries that aren’t fully cooked, sausage, and bacon. What happened?

I travel frequently for work, as does my whole team, and I wouldn’t recommend this location after what happened during my February stay. With my busy schedule, I emailed the manager today to explain the problems I’d had. The response was far from customer-friendly, and the manager questioned my character. I found that shocking and unacceptable. For anyone looking for a safe, friendly place, this location was a letdown. My team and I have canceled all future reservations and will switch to other nearby Hilton properties. I’m sharing this so others can avoid a similar experience. Happy travels.
