The check-in clerk, maybe the owner, was very nice and lent me an iron since there wasn’t one in the room. There was plenty of hot water, but the beds were very hard. The place was mostly clean, though the shower curtains needed stain removal and the shower and bath caulking needed to be taken out, cleaned, and replaced. The carpet also needs a serious cleaning. My feet turned black from walking on it. There was no coffee maker or hair dryer. I didn’t check what rates were going for nearby, but for this price I expected more, like a coffee maker in the room.
The AC was nice and cold, but the filthy blankets made it hard to lie down and enjoy it. We paid $500 a week for Room 122, and the whole place was in terrible shape. The floor sagged where the bed teetered, with no foundation under that part of the building, which seemed to sit on a mysterious bulge. The roof was caving in, and there were structural cracks in the walls and ceiling. The old gas stove wasn’t connected, and I wouldn’t have trusted it even if it had been. Dresser drawers were broken and unusable. The bathroom smelled of mildew, the toilet rocked, and its lid was broken. The floor was so dirty it turned a whole pack of our brand-new white socks black during the week, so I threw them out. Cobwebs hung everywhere. We got just two towels, which turned black when I used them to clean the bathroom and kitchen counters enough to make the space usable. The internet barely worked, had no password, and only showed up intermittently on 2.4 GHz. It made me wonder if my phone had been hacked, though I can’t say that happened. The owners were rude, watched me constantly, and wouldn’t allow guests. They also tried to make my friend and me fight by claiming he’d had women over while I was gone. They showed me the camera footage, and it was a delivery woman. I’m glad I got out of there.
The owners seem like nice people, but the room was pretty dirty when I arrived. I’m not sure whether they have maids. There were cigarette burns in the blankets and gum stuck to the headboard. The bathroom didn’t look cleaned, and it smelled like pee. The previous guest had left urine in the toilet, but flushing took care of the smell. Having a cleaning fee when the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned before my stay was irritating. The Wi-Fi was basically nonexistent, so bring plenty of hotspot data. It really is the Budget Inn.
From the outside, this motel gives a misleading impression. Inside, the room was updated, very clean, and had a comfortable bed. The place was well lit and felt safe. Management were extremely nice and went out of their way to help my elderly mother. Such an unexpected delight. Thank you.
I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this place was. The people running it clearly spend time caring for the grounds and building. The parking lot was free of leaves and debris, and there were no spiderwebs around the lights, doors, windows, or corners. The rose garden was kept up well. Room 106, though the zero was missing from the number, was clean and inviting, and the AC worked great. All in all, it was a good stay and I’d recommend it.
