The single-floor buildings are solid, which is good if you’d rather not be bothered by other guests or worry about bothering them yourself. It’s always clean.

It’s pretty much what you’d expect from looking outside. Our room was fairly clean, with very basic amenities. We got just one coffee serving for four nights, though I might have got more if I’d remembered to ask. They’ll bring fresh towels when asked. The hard part is reaching anyone at the front desk, even by phone. I tried calling to extend my stay, but no one answered, so I had to go find someone in person and pay for a few extra nights. Once you find staff, they’re very nice and accommodating. I left recyclables in a plastic bag by the door, and they took them, probably thinking it was trash. My mistake. I also found something wedged in the toilet tank that someone had likely forgotten. It could have got me arrested, so I’m glad I found it and took it to the dumpster. There were some creepy people outside at night. A guy dove behind the dumpster just as I was opening the motel door, though I don’t know why he was hiding. Another man was passed out against a parked car for a couple of hours in the early morning darkness. Bring valuables inside instead of leaving them in your car. It seems like the better of the two shabby motels in town. You’ll hear music from the bar across the street all night, and traffic comes through the window as if it were open, though it wasn’t.

The Woodburn Inn is very clean, and the customer service is amazing. Real people with genuine professional skills.

At $150 a room, it’s extremely expensive for what you get. The room needs a better cleaning. The sheets were stained and dirty, it smelled of cigarettes even though smoking isn’t allowed, and the coffee machine was filthy. They only accept cash, which feels a little fishy.

Do not stay here. The room smelled of smoke even though it was supposed to be non-smoking, and there weren’t any towels to shower with. Those are just a couple of the problems. I reported it to management, and they offered to get towels then, but I was already leaving. They didn’t offer anything else to make up for the lack of service. The room cost $90. If you’re willing to risk smelling like someone else’s smoke and not being able to shower in July, this might be the place for you. Spend the extra money on a decent room. Just do it. - A
