Best Western Woodland Inn

I wish I’d checked the reviews before booking. The front desk lady was nice, but when we opened the door to our room, the smell made us cover our noses. It looked nothing like the online photos and badly needed updating. The paint was patchy, and there were holes in the walls and curtains. The shower was rough, the floors looked so gross we didn’t walk barefoot, and the bed was underwhelming. Neither bedside lamp worked. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to feel like you’re in a clean place.

The carpets smelled like wet dog, and paint fumes filled the hallway because they were painting the room next to my in-laws. They’d booked a handicap room months ahead, but it was given to someone else. In our rooms, the faucet in our son’s room was coming off, the curtain was slipping off its hangers, the door stuck badly, and there were patches of paint on the ceilings in multiple rooms. Our whirlpool tub was cracked, and the trim around it was damaged. Breakfast was cold, rubbery, and flavorless, like it had been microwaved. The ice machine was out of order too. For the price, all of this was unacceptable. This was the worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Go anywhere else! Update: They gave me 5,000 points toward a future stay, which sounds like about $25.00.

After the lobby, the place goes downhill fast. A big dog was barking in the room across the hall, and the hallway smelled bad. It didn’t meet what I’ve come to expect from Best Western. In the morning, one person had to cover the front desk and keep the breakfast food stocked, so most of it was gone.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast had good choices, much more than I’ve seen at other continental breakfasts. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and right on I5, which made it very convenient.
