Wildlife and small-town exploring made the stay feel especially Northwoods. We saw an albino deer, and there are lakes, rivers, trails, shops, boutiques, and good local restaurants nearby. Whitetail Lodge also seems suited to a quiet weekend, a small group trip, or a wedding. The layout is all on one level, which made getting around easy and accessible. Our room opened through sliding doors onto a little private patio, and the pool area has a larger outdoor seating spot facing the quiet woods. It was lovely for slow mornings with coffee and evenings with cookies. The place was clean and welcoming, and the staff put in effort to keep things running smoothly. Breakfast was well stocked, with comfortable seating, and off-season rates made the experience a good value. It has a peaceful, tucked-into-the-trees feel that left me rested.

The new owners are kind and really supportive. They’ve redone the place to feel cozy and Northwoods-like, and there’s a lot on offer for both locals and people visiting from out of town. Check it out!

We had a perfect stay at Whitetail Lodge. The room felt spacious and cozy, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We made use of the amenities, including the hot tub, outdoor deck, wood swing, and welcoming breakfast area. It’s a great place for an even better price.

A decent breakfast selection and good coffee got the day started well, and I’d definitely stay here again. The rooms were large and exceptionally clean, with thick towels, a comfy mattress, and non-bleach sheets. The staff were great, and the property was well kept. There are amenities you don’t usually see at a motel: a patio with tables and chairs facing the woods, safe play equipment for kids off to the side, bikes guests can borrow and racks for bringing your own, plus a pool and hot tub. The setting in St. Germaine is quiet and woodsy, set back from Hwy 70 so there’s no road noise.
