Mountain Lake Lodge

We paid over $900 for three weekday nights, and this was our anniversary vacation, our third in 17 years. The Flathead Lake area is beautiful, but I'd tell people to find somewhere else to stay. There were so many problems everywhere we turned that I wouldn't trust this place again. We didn't complain during the visit, but I want others to know what happened. We were told by email we could check in after 4. At 7 pm, while we were driving in from Salt Lake, they called to ask our arrival time. When I asked about front desk hours, the person said he tries to leave just after 8, so we skipped dinner and headed there. We got a detailed tour of the grounds, a utility room code for extra towels, a map to our room, and a parking assignment. Someone left their truck in our clearly marked assigned space the whole time. The front desk response was that people don't pay attention to the spots, and we were sent to an unreserved space instead. The room was awful. There were pubic and other hairs in the jacuzzi, a stiff old washcloth in the shower, food stains on tables, an old sock in the closet, mold and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, and no light in the kitchenette or outside by the stairs. The phones were yellowed and looked like they were from the '80s. The outdoor hot tubs were lukewarm and scummy, the pool was unheated and ice cold, and the couch blocked the bedroom door. I called before check-in to confirm we'd have a lake view and was told absolutely yes. In reality, you could only see a sliver by standing at the front door and peeking past the front window, which looked onto a courtyard with zero privacy. You couldn't see the lake from the couch. I felt very misled. We considered going to Econo Lodge for a better stay.
