Beechwood Hotel

The rooms are nice, but planning our wedding here took more effort than it should have. We were told during the tour that a new fountain would be finished a full calendar year before the wedding. That promise was repeated several times, and we thought even four months of delays would still leave time. When we visited a month before the wedding, there was no chance it would be ready. The hotel only stopped saying it would be done then, and construction crews were still in the parking lot on our wedding day. Setting up the wedding room block was also a struggle. We had to chase the team for answers, and at one point they stopped answering my wife's calls, so we tried a different number. Guests ran into booking problems too. When I called, I was told there was no block under my name. I later found out the hotel’s call center was telling guests the same thing, and that they needed to reach the front desk specifically. How would a guest know who was picking up? We also discovered that some block rates were $100 per night MORE than the posted base rates for those dates. Our weekend eventually went smoothly, thanks to my wife’s careful follow-ups, saved receipts, and willingness to micro manage the "Massachusetts Only AAA Four diamond boutique hotel". I'm not sure the nice rooms were worth all the hassle. Future wedding parties, be prepared.

On the day of our September event at Beechwood hotel, the timing, setup, and service all went like clockwork. BetteAnn Wallen, Chris Drzal, and the banquet team, Alex, Jennifer, Tammy, Jill, and Flavia, were attentive and welcoming. They responded quickly and made me and our guests feel well looked after. Planning was smooth too. The team handled our requests thoughtfully and worked them into the event with care. Thank you to everyone at Beechwood Hotel for making it memorable and stress-free. I was very pleased with how everything turned out and would highly recommend them.

The rooms themselves are beautiful, but disorganization, poor communication, and customer service overshadowed everything. I truly wish we’d chosen another hotel. I would not recommend Beechwood Hotel for a wedding room block. Getting basic information was difficult from the start. We met with Onicia Mends, Director of Sales and Marketing, who seemed friendly, but emails often went unanswered, voicemails weren’t returned, and clear answers were hard to get. On our initial tour, most requests got a “We can’t accommodate that.” They agreed to some only after we said we might choose another hotel, including keeping the bar open later, but that agreement was later disputed. Our contract said the bar would stay open until 1:00am. When we arrived the day before the wedding, the manager said there was no record of it. The room block brought more confusion. At least ten guests were told there was no block under our names. Other guests were bounced between sales and the front desk and kept on hold for a long time. Many never got confirmation emails. When I called about my reservation, they said there was no booking under my name, then I found out it had been misspelled. With no online booking system, everyone had to reserve by phone, making the process even harder. When we arrived, someone else with the same last name had been given our bridal suite, and the father of the groom’s room had also gone to someone else. The front desk offered no real fix. The associate rolled his eyes when I asked for a manager, said nobody was available, and told us to “step aside” while he checked in other guests. I was in tears, and nobody tried to help or even apologize. The whole experience was incredibly stressful and disappointing. The hotel eventually comped our room and did keep the bar open until 1am, but then a large bill arrived for all the guest drinks, even though we’d confirmed in advance that the bar would be cash only.

Parking was easy, the price was fair, and the rooms have been updated. The restaurant was good too. We’d stay here again.
