Hope Hotel & Conference Center

The staff were friendly, and I felt safe staying here for the weekend. I was working in town and wanted somewhere cheap, so the price suited me, and the place was tolerable enough. Hector’s taco shop is nearby and awesome, though there aren't many other places to eat close by. The building is older and has a basement smell. My bed was extremely uncomfortable unless you like a very firm mattress and pillows. The shower stall was dirty and had been painted over, including the soap scum, and the paint came off in big chunks with a light touch. I set the heater to 72, but it ran all night and the room reached 78. The on-site restaurant was closed for dinner, and the $10 buffet wasn't available.

The workers were nice, and the location felt safe, but the old building and so-so facilities were below average. A strange noise went off about every 45 minutes, like another review mentioned, and I think it must be coming from the base. The AC also didn't work right, so getting comfortable and sleeping was difficult. If you can afford somewhere better, I'd go there. If not, this place is serviceable.

The toilet was loose from the start, and the beds and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable. I couldn't get screen mirroring to work on the TV, and there were fleas everywhere. Keep your bags closed if you don't want to bring fleas home, and don't bring your animals here. I definitely won't stay again. Take this as a warning.

For the price, the room was great, and it was clean, which alone deserves five stars. The staff were great too. It's a little bare bones compared with a top tier hotel, but that's not what this place is.
