Coachman's Inn Motel

The TV kept turning itself off, and some of the channels didn’t work. The room was dirty, with spiders and debris all along the bottom of the sink. There were holes in the walls, stains on the bed covers and sheets, and torn-out Sheetrock left sitting there in plain sight.

We only meant to stay for a few nights, but an ice storm left my husband and me there for a week. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and even let us check in early for a small fee. The room was clean and the hospitality was wonderful. For us, this was easily the best hotel in Wynne, AR.

I’ve stayed here many times before and had never been questioned or bothered like this. Maybe there are new owners? We arrived pretty late just needing somewhere to sleep. The woman at the window asked a lot of questions, which I understand, but warned us about extra charges for making the room dirty or getting makeup on the sheets or towels. Once inside, there were cigarette burns all over, plus what looked like the outline of a dope pipe on the sink. We spent an hour trying to get the TV working, and the walls were so thin we heard everything from next door, including moans all night. A group was partying loudly at the far end of the building too. It was almost 1 am, so we stayed. At 9 the next morning an older man knocked to say checkout was at 10:30. The woman who checked me in had told me that several times already, so why knock an hour and a half early? They were waking people up and basically telling everyone to hurry.

For what it cost, the place was just barely clean enough, and the internet was pretty decent. People regularly partied right outside my window until 2 or 3 am, breaking bottles and doing drugs, while management seemed not to care at all. I’ve stayed in worse places and better ones. I made the best of a bad situation, keeping my .40 within reach so I could get through the night.
