Fairfield Inn & Suites Wytheville

The shower barely got me wet, and it took 45 minutes to get hot water. There was a big hole in the bathroom wall, about an inch of dust throughout the room, and when I asked at the desk, they only gave us half a roll of toilet paper. The place is very outdated and doesn’t meet Marriott standards. The side door was out of order but held open with a rock, which felt unsafe. The front desk staff from Sunday to Monday were extremely rude. Just horrible customer service.

It was adequate for a one-night stay, but I was very disappointed for a Fairfield / Marriott property. The mattress felt old and soggy. The sheets were worn and had holes, and the pillowcase didn’t cover the very, very old pillow. Yuck. I took pictures but couldn’t post them.

The room had a musty smell, and the breakfast was among the worst we’ve had at a hotel. The hostess wasn’t up to par with the dress code, and she had dried mud on her shoes. We also found two small flying bugs in the room. The rooms were dated and worn out. The walls were dusty, and a black light showed wet mold along the edges of the headboards and furniture. The carpet was filthy around the furniture. The refrigerator didn’t have a freezer compartment, so we couldn’t refreeze our ice packs.

The patio was a letdown on a lovely day outside. We’d hoped to sit there, but it clearly hadn’t been maintained, and many of the chairs were broken and looked past their best. Breakfast wasn’t appealing either. One of the hot items was being served from a crockpot, which felt unusual for a hotel. The location is convenient, with lots of other hotels at the same exit. The property looks like it may have been one of the area’s first hotels, and there was a noticeable lack of maintenance both inside and out. You may want to consider the other options nearby.
