My late husband and I first came across this place by chance, and it turned into such a happy accident. We ate here, loved the area, went to the Sunday market, and met Virginia, who was then the owner of Rock Park Cottages. Years ago, she told us her mother had a place there. We rented cabin 1, and it was just right, a little quaint bit of heaven. Later, before my husband died, we had a family reunion and rented all the cottages. Everyone loved it. I hope to return this coming year.

The bed in Cottage 4 was so bad that we bought an air mattress to sleep on. It felt like springs with a blanket over them. The heat was either baking us or leaving us freezing, with no in-between. The walls were paper thin, and I could hear my neighbor farting at 6 am. I won't stay here again. We found black mold on the freezer seal, and whoever cleans the place isn't doing their job. We were asked to wash the dishes before leaving, but the previous guests hadn't done them properly, so I had to wash everything I used. The stove was gross, grease coated under the drip-pan edges, and the old burners were falling apart. We were also told to separate our garbage correctly or get fined, so I'm taking mine with me. It's sad, because this could be a really cute place, but no one seems to care.

The trip and my dear friend were great, but she felt embarrassed by the state of the room she had given me as a thank-you stay. It didn't look like the listing photos. The windows were covered in dirt, slime, and mold; the sign on top of the fridge was greasy and dirty. The emergency kit box looked untouched for a long time and was greasy and dirty as well. There was black dirt around the top of the shower, and the cozy room smelled old and musty. When my friend called, the response was, “leave the dishes in the dishwasher.” Funny thing is, we never found one.

The view and location, right by the state park, are the best parts. The cottages are cute and quaint, just right for two. The little kitchen had everything we needed, even crab crackers and a corkscrew.

I've loved this place for years, and everything in Yachats is within walking distance from the cottages. We've been coming for over a decade. Our favorites are #3 and #4, though the A frame is great too, and the hobbit house #5 is fun.
