Travelodge by Wyndham Yampa

Kristi has made things go smoothly on three of my four visits, and I’ve seen her cover far more than housecleaning, including the front desk, janitorial work, and even management. She’s been working the hardest, even on days off. Edie deserves a raise too. The manager is hardly around, while employees end up solving the problems this place has. It’s hard to build a rapport with staff when only one or two people are doing most of the work because others are late all the time or don’t show up. I’ve stayed here several times, and the poor management seems to be where so many issues start. The manager should be fired.

We were so uncomfortable in the room that we booked somewhere else. The sheets were stained, the furniture was dirty, and there was a used towel left in the bathroom. At check-in, the staff were abrasive and condescending. We had reserved two rooms through hotels.com, but the desk insisted we had only one and wouldn’t accept my confirmation email. After I called hotels.com and got the issue sorted out, the front desk made unnecessary, misogynistic remarks. The next morning, while we were handling the cancellation, one of the same employees was still making disrespectful comments and acting unprofessionally. Destiny was understanding and more hospitable than anyone else we dealt with during our brief stay.

The diner food was okay, but the kitchen looked gross. Using the fryer left a pungent smell in the air, and the cooks wore the same gloves while handling raw meat and other foods. There didn’t seem to be basic attention to food safety. The hotel itself was dirty and had a strange smell, the rooms were never cleaned well, and the key often wouldn’t work. Most of the men on staff were rude, abrasive, and combative. It was terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend it, even at the lowest price around.

After 16 hours of travel, we were still at the desk at 1:00am while the receptionist tried six times to find us a key card for a room that was clean and not already occupied. Terrible service. Save your time and money.
