Colonial Acres Resort

We'd stay here again if we're in the area. It's our first time on Cape Cod, and the resort is convenient for restaurants and stores by car. The beach is close, the grounds are well kept, and the staff are very nice and helpful. Our very clean unit had the necessities, fresh towels each day, and the trash was taken out. The linens were okay. In building 2 on the second floor, our room is basically a small suite with a queen bed and good storage. The sofa, meant to be a second bed, has seen better days, though we didn't try sleeping on it. There are plates and utensils for four, a microwave, toaster, fridge, and coffee pot, but no stove or oven. The updated bathroom has a tub and shower. Heating and cooling aren't great, but adequate. When the weather is nice, the windows and deck door open for a cross breeze. It's a little dated, which adds charm. There's no elevator, and getting to the second floor means going up inside stairs in an odd way, though it's manageable apart from carrying suitcases. The area is quiet, with a little mechanical noise that stands out because there aren't many other sounds.

The staff and service were great, and the rooms were clean. It's a pleasant little resort close to the beach, with a pool I didn't use and a BBQ in front of every unit. The rooms have a typical Cape Cod feel, but they're small and the interiors are old. I found the beds uncomfortable, and could hear every step from the guest upstairs. The window A/C unit is ugly, with covers that drip and have mold. No pets are allowed. I don't understand the prices people are willing to pay for rooms like these. They're okay, but not great for the money, which seems true of most hotels on the Cape and even many places across the States.

You can walk to the beach, and the location is great with a beach view. I really like the place, but the furniture needs updating. The edges of the chairs and sofa are starting to fray, and you sink into them. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. I won't stay again until they get new furniture.

We love staying here when we come to Cape Cod from Florida. It's so comfortable, and the heated pool is wonderful. We always have a relaxing, enjoyable vacation.
